NYE in Paris

2 months ago I was talking with my friend Olivia about the traveling she has been doing. She has been living in Paris and taking trips all over Europe on the weekends.

As we were sharing travel stories, the idea of coming to visit her for New Year’s Eve came up.

Could I really fly to Paris, less than a month after returning from Rome, to celebrate NYE in the City of Lights?

All it took for me to say “hell yes!” to that question was one phone call to my friend Kelsey.

Prior to the whole Paris conversation with Olivia, Kelsey and I briefly talked about going somewhere after Christmas since we both had time off. London, Hawaii, a cruise, among a few others that were thrown out there.

So when I asked Kelsey about going to Paris it luckily didn’t take much convincing! A few days later we booked out direct flights from CVG to CDG. Confusing I know.

10 days after we booked our flights, the unthinkable happened in Paris. The terrorist attacks obviously weighed heavy on my mind, like the rest of the world.

Olivia has given me updates on how Paris is recovering from those horrific events.

I’m curious to see first hand how the city is now compared to when I was there for a few days in 2012.

But travel on we must.

Travel Lesson: Jump at opportunity to do something exciting with your life.

Despite what others may tell you, travel can be healing.

Looking forward to an amazing week in Paris with 2 great friends who have yet to meet.

Kelsey and Olivia, I hope Paris is ready for us!

Cheers to an amazing 2016!

  1. How exciting to spend NYE in Paris! It makes me happy to hear that you’re not letting fear get in the way of enjoying travel and friendship. You’re a great example to others who may worry about those things. I can’t wait to read about your experiences in Paris. How lovely!
